Wallace B “Weary” Walters, 92, of Newcomerstown went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Truman House Community Hospice.

He was born on Monday, December 30, 1929, in Newcomerstown to the late Waldon and Mary (McKinley) Walters. He graduated from Newcomerstown High School in 1948. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War.

On October 11, 1953, he married the love of his life, Florence R. (Riggle) Walters who preceded him in death in 2014. He was co-owner of Walters’ Bros Sinclair Station. He also worked at W.M. Brode Company and Foundation Equipment Company. Wallace was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and served as a Trustee. His faith was very important to him and his favorite job was a greeter at church. He was a Life Time member of the Newcomerstown Elks Lodge 1555. He loved to play golf and vacation at Myrtle Beach with his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Beth (Phil) Murphy, Pam Walters, and Jeff (Barb) Walters all of Newcomerstown; his grandchildren, Mary (Ryan) Copenhaver, Kristen (JC) Rine, Molly Walters, Chase Arnold, Cori Lake, and Codi Rothacher; 5 great-grandchildren, Ellie and Jordyn Copenhaver, Jaycelyn, Brooklyn and Charlotte Rine; two sisters, Joan Wiley and Pat (Guilford) Rice; and a brother-in-law, Geary Riggle; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, September 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Christ United Methodist Church 648 Oak St. in Newcomerstown with Bracken G. Foster officiating. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery Newcomerstown with military services conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard. Calling hours will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, from 5 – 7 at Addy Funeral Home with an Elks Service at 7 pm. There will be calling hours one hour prior to the service on Friday.
