TOGETHER AGAIN

Walter Smith Hines II, age 94, of Uhrichsville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Riverside Manor in Newcomerstown, Ohio.

Born November 22, 1930, in Dennison, Ohio, Walt is the son of the late Walter Smith Hines I and Mildred McCollom Hines.

In 1948, Walt graduated from Uhrichsville High School.  He started his career at AEP, first as a Range Service Assistant, then a line man 3rd Class. He then took a job in Coshocton as a dispatcher, a distribution planner and finally division administrator 2nd in command at Steubenville.  Walt flew all around the world with his work and retired in 1991.  He was an Exalted Ruler at the Elks, and helped build Uhrichsville Little League Field, the 6th lit little league field in Ohio.  He was an umpire for many years.

In September 1948, Walt married Margaret Patricia (Robinson) Hines.  Patricia passed away in 2015.

Surviving is their son Walter Hines III of Uhrichsville; siblings Jeanie Protich of Akron; a grandson Walter (Rachel) Hines IV of Uhrichsville; three grandchildren Wyatt (Katrina) Hines, Emily (Reese) Peters and Andrew Greer and a great great grandchild Olive Hines; along with numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregiver Tiffany Lenzo.

In addition to his parents and wife, Walt is preceded in death by a son Jeffrey D. Hines and a sister Marjorie (John) Metzger.

Funeral service for Walt will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, with the Rev. Mark Unrue officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Uhrichsville.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8, on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the funeral home.
