Wanda L. Fishel, 83, of New Philadelphia and formerly of Sugarcreek passed away on Sunday April 14, 2024, in her residence following a period of declining health.

Born in Tuscarawas County on June 21, 1940, she was the daughter of the late David H. and Helen A. (Schilling) Angel.

She worked for Chemical Abstract Service in Columbus and retired from Berlin Flea Market in Berlin.  She enjoyed reading, traveling, camping, photography (especially taking photos of her beloved pets Copper and Critter), and riding on motorcycles.

Wanda is survived by her children Debra L. (partner Dennis R. Uebel) Edwards of Dover, and Ricky D. (partner Lorin Grewell) Fishel of New Philadelphia; brother Rex G. (Patricia) Angel of Sugarcreek; sister Lois “Ann” (Bill) Fender of Dundee; grandson Luke A. Edwards; great grandchildren Zephyr I. Edwards and Bijou E. Edwards; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and former husband, Jerry “Mick” Fishel who was the love of her life, she is preceded in death by brothers David A. Angel, Owen D. Angel; sister Vita Kay Angel Jacobs; sister-in-law Nancy Angel; brother-in-law Sam Jacobs; nephew Harry Vincent Angel; and niece Grace Burkhart.

Services for Wanda will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with Pastor Bill Eckert officiating with a meal following the service. Burial will then follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30-11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the Community Hospice staff and especially caregivers Dana Parsons, Connie Johnson and Jessica Miller, along with Chaplain Bill Eckert for their excellent care of Wanda.
