Newcomerstown’s mayor believes the fluctuating temperatures are to blame for the water line break that forced the village to shut off the water twice.
It’s back on in Newcomertown as of about 3 p.m. Saturday, and a boil alert was lifted Sunday afternoon. But once on Thursday and
once on Saturday crews had to shut off the water to the entire village because of a break in a major water line on Canal Street. Mayor Pat Cadle says they repaired the line overnight Thursday.
Then they shut the water off again for a few hours Saturday to replace a valve. Cadle says the up-and-down winter weather has many municipalities chasing water line breaks.
Cadle says fixing the road won’t be easy. The water underground damaged the road for 50 feet in either direction. Cadel says that whole section of road will have to be replaced.
