Gwen Rummell Reporting –

One man was killed and another hospitalized after a Thursday crash in Wayne County.

According to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of State Route 57 and State Route 604.

The Patrol noted that a 2003 Buick failed to yield at a stop sign, crossing in front of a 2015 Chrysler. The Chrysler struck the Buick in the right front.

The Buick driver, a 72 year old of Creston, was taken to Akron City Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The Chrysler driver, an 18 year old of Orrville, was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Patrol said in a press release that alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash. Additionally, the Buick driver was belted in, while the Chrysler driver was not.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Chippewa Township Fire and EMS, Rittman Fire and EMS, Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, 3 Son’s Towing, and Bear’s Towing.
