William A. Hootman – June 7, 2023

William A. Hootman, 79, of Newcomerstown, passed away on June 7th, 2023, at his home.

William was born in Newcomerstown, Ohio to Lois Garnet and William Hootman on March 8th, 1944. He went to school at Port Washington High School and graduated in 1962. He was an accomplished horseman in his teens and awarded many ribbons. He had a love for dirt bikes and motorcycles. He worked for Shell Gas Company. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Newcomerstown Church of Christ. William was a “foodie” and enjoyed visiting local and new restaurants.

William is preceded in death by his parents, William W. Hootman and Lois Garnet (Shryock) Hootman

William is survived by his sons, Sean Hootman, David Hootman, daughters, Amanda Gatz and Jessica (Hootman) Benson (Jeff Benson), his sister Brenda (Curtis) Head, grandchildren, Trent, Reagan, Chelsey, Samuel, Matthew, Amelia, Jayce and Jessa, and his great granddaughter Emma, his nephew Marc Little, Niece Debi Prentice and two great nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 12pm Friday June 16th, 2023, with the visitation from 10am – 12pm, on Friday at Addy Funeral Home. Burial will follow at West Lawn cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to NAMI, National Alliance on Mental Illness.
