William “Bill” Gerasimof, age 82, of Leesville, Ohio, died Sunday night, July 27, 2025 in the Ohio’s LifeCare Hospice Truman House at New Philadelphia.

He was born March 7, 1943 in Hopedale, Ohio and was the son of the late Tony and Mary (Torok) Gerasimof.   His wife, Kathleen Ann (Nichols) Gerasimof, whom he married November 8, 1983, passed away on May 30, 2020.  In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister Helen Shepherd.

He retired in 2002 from the L.J. Smith Company in Bowerston after 27 years of service to the company.  He was an active and faithful member of the Leesville Fellowship Church (former Leesville United Methodist), always willing to be of assistance with church functions and activities. He enjoyed going fishing,  but his true passion was his big, beautiful garden. He spent endless hours in his garden. It provided something else that he was able to share with his wife, and was very proud to share its bounty with everyone.  He had a big heart and enjoyed mowing and snow plowing to help others in the community. There was never a stranger he didn’t meet. He cherished the time he spent with his late wife Kathy. They helped to provide each other with the best years of their lives. Bill struggled to find happiness after Kathy’s death in 2020.  He lived the life of the broken-hearted and it showed in his daily life.  If you spent any time with Bill, you were a “pot licker”, got threatened with a knuckle sandwich, or was called a “Good “Ole Joe”, or was handed a large plate of his home-made spaghetti.  He was a loving and considerate father, grandfather, and brother who will be missed by his family and community.

He is survived by three daughters, April  L. (Kevin) Edwards of Dover, OH, Therese Lesniewski of Kiln, MS, and Mary (Bernard) Flaherty of Archdale, NC, his grandchildren Austin Stull (fiancée Rachel Cutlip) of Mansfield, OH, Hunter Edwards and Chace Edwards, both of Dover, Tyler (Sarah) Flaherty of Charleston, SC, and Logan Flaherty of Concord, NC, his great-grandchildren Hallie Stull, and Ella, Oliver, and Emery Flaherty, two brothers, Ted Gerasimof of Stillwater, OH, and Nick (Kathy) Gerasimof of Cardington, OH,  two nieces Gayla Galbreath and Mrs. Jody (Kelly) Clark, and very special family friends, Kim Booth of Leesville and her late husband John.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Monday, August 4, 2025 in the Baxter-Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Sheila Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Leesville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday from 12:00 noon until time of services at 1:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
