Wilma Kay (Long) Laisure, 79, of Port Washington died Sunday morning of January 5, 2025, at the Inn at Northwood in Dover under the care of Crossroads Hospice.

A daughter to Nelson Long and Winifred “Winnie” (Wesson) Stumm, Kay was born on September 3, 1945, in Dennison. She graduated from Uhrichsville High School in 1963, and then worked as a receptionist at Twin City Hospital for a few years. Kay then became Miss Kay or Kay Kay to many after she started working for the Indian Valley School System where she became the head cook at Port Washington Elementary and retired after thirty-six years in 2015.

She loved following her children and grandchildren’s sports and attended many of their events. She was a member of the athletic boosters and attended the New Pointe Community Church.

Surviving are Kay’s husband of fifty-six years, Larry Laisure, to whom she married on February 3, 1968. Also surviving are her two children: Larry (Sherri) Laisure of Lewis Center, and Kimberly (John) Beckley of Gnadenhutten; four grandchildren: Alyssa Laisure, Joshua Laisure, Courtney Beckley, and Tyler Beckley; a sister Sue Mason; and her beloved dog Bella.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: infant Greg Long, Sandy Struchen, and Nancy Sanders.

Calling hours and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Koch Funeral Home of Gnadenhutten, 244 N. Walnut St. 44629. Calling hours will begin at 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Jim Stull officiating. Burial will take place at Union Salem Twp. Cemetery in Port Washington immediately following. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Valley Foundation, or to Crossroads Hospice, Inc.
