Winifred (Harris) Symons, age 94 of Dover, Ohio died October 16, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. Winnie was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Winnie was born August 28, 1928, in Bakerton, PA, and was the daughter of the late Thomas (Cobb) and Mary Ann (Red) Barnes Harris. On November 9, 1946, she married Joseph Symons in Cumberland, MD, and celebrated 68 wonderful years together until his passing on January 9, 2015.

Winnie spent most of her adult life in the Bolivar, Ohio area before relocating to Dover, Ohio in 1998. Winnie was an avid Cleveland (Indians) Guardian fan and loved golfing, quilting and dancing. She spent most mornings catching up with friends and relatives on Facebook.

She will be sadly missed by her children Tom (Mary Jo) Symons, Deb (Carl) Jewell all of Bolivar, and Dirk (Kathy) Symons of Dover. Her grandchildren Michele (Perry) Atkinson, Kristi (Brian) Kates, Julie (Brad Kerekes) Mathias, Dirk (Tracey) Symons, Sara (Scott) Carter, Brandon (Stacey Quillin) Symons, Jeff (Nicole) Aul, Ben (Colleen) Jewell, and Travis (Kasey) Fishley. Twenty-five great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren complete the family. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Marge Roy, and Shirley Harris, brother-in-law Charles Warrender, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Winnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, and her four sisters Florence Warrender, Lorraine Scaramozzino, Mary Lou Byrnes, and Sandy Madachick, and brother George (Pat) Harris.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers and to Community Hospice House for the excellent care she received.

Cremation will be handled by Lebold-Smith Funeral Home of Bolivar, Ohio with a Celebration of Life to be held Monday, November 7, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon at the Wilkshire Event Center in Bolivar.  Interment and committal service will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at 2:15 PM where her husband rests.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Winnie’s memory to the Community Hospice House, 716 Commercial Ave., SW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
