Winifred Maxine Gibbens, 95, of Gnadenhutten, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Brookdale of Lakeview Crossing in Groveport, Ohio, after a period of declining health. Born May 10, 1928, in Dennison, she was a daughter of the late Alva Edgar Greenwood, Sr. and Chestina Elizabeth (Lauber) Greenwood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth D. Gibbens; daughter, Marcia L. Williams; brothers, Frank Benjamin, Jackie Lee, Dale Richard, Alva Jr., Earl, and Lewis “Butch” Greenwood; sisters, Eleanor Malterer, Mary Lou Shaw, and Linda K. Froman; and grandson, Jesse B. (Michelle) Gibbens. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Diana) Gibbens; brothers, Larry (Margie, deceased) and Donald (Shirley) Greenwood; sister, Melva Jane (Austin) Beckley; grandsons, David D. (Brittney) Gibbens, Lance D. Gibbens, and Sean M. Hren; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Winifred was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker who spent her life caring for her family and home. She enjoyed sewing, landscaping, and home remodeling, and especially loved the time she spent with family and friends.

A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Lee Ann Dunlap, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10, at Gnadenhutten-Clay Union Cemetery in Gnadenhutten. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indian Valley Foundation, P. O. Box 171, Gnadenhutten, OH  44629.
