There’s a new Woman of the Year following a celebration recognizing the “Fab Five” finalist of the Lucille Nussdorfer Award.

The winner was Nancy Schoenbaum.

“Thank you and thank you to all the ladies who have been nominated. I don’t feel worthy of being up here, but I want to thank you all, and I hope you’ll come out and enjoy [Camp Tuscazoar]. We keep it open, it’s thriving, and it’s a beautiful place.”

Corianne Kocarek touted the many accomplishments Schoenbaum has contributed for Camp Tuscazoar.

“Nancy serves as our main point of contact, answering countless phone calls, emails, she has headed up several fundraising events each year. Without Nancy’s foresight, her relationships, and countless hours of volunteer dedication Camp Tuscazoar would have been closed off and sold to housing developers, instead it’s an amazing nature preserve all with Nancy’s help.”

The other 2024 finalists were Beth DiDonato, Cyndy Host, Kelly Rager, and Nell Winston.

Overall, the award honors Nussdorder’s community legacy as in March 1942, she started the Dennison Depot Servicemen’s Canteen, serving over 1.3 million soldiers over four years during World War II.
