Mary Alice Reporting – The Tuscarawas County YMCA recently held its annual meeting and volunteer recognition dinner.

The 2022 report and financials were presented as 60 volunteers, members, staff and guests were in attendance.

Among the announcements was the recognition if the Y’s Annual Campaign which exceeds its goal to reach a total of $110,588.

CEO Megan Shaheen says upgrades also happened as memberships increased post pandemic.

“We started out 24/7 access for membership and that’s going great. We had some building projects related to that and then we had several projects we completed to do some upgrades to certain parts of the building whether roof or HVAC.”

Last year, a total of 199 volunteers donated 2,448 hours of their time and talents.

“We are always looking for volunteers. You just never know how you’ll shape somebody’s life. YMCA is built on volunteers. We always have been and we always will be.”

The Denney family was recognized as the 2022 Family of the Year and Sharon Schartiger was recognized as the 2022 Volunteer of the Year. The Youth Leadership Award was presented to Molly Richmond.
