The Wilderness Center is proud to announce The State of Conservation, a new three-part series offering the public an inside look at how The Wilderness Center’s conservation experts are monitoring, protecting, and restoring the natural environments of Ohio. The series, offered both in-person and virtually, will explore the health of local ecosystems and the vital work being done to preserve biodiversity across the region. Each session will include engaging presentations, opportunities for audience Q&A, and actionable insights into the future of conservation at The Wilderness Center. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how science-based strategies and community partnerships are helping safeguard the natural world.
Part 2: Beneath the Canopy – A Peek into Forest Quality

From towering oaks to delicate wildflowers, forests are among the most vital and complex ecosystems. This session delves into how The Wilderness Center evaluates forest health, including assessments of tree composition, invasive species, and regeneration dynamics. Experts will discuss current challenges and the proactive management strategies used to ensure forest resilience and biodiversity.
