Nick McWilliams reporting – Voters are hitting the polls for the May 2nd Primary Election, with a handful of issues and contested races up for vote.

In Tuscarawas County, the village of Port Washington has a property tax renewal, and an income tax increase. The renewal of 0.6 mils funds maintaining and operating Union Cemetery, while the increase represents a half-percent rise for a continuing period, which will be used for street paving and maintenance.

In Strasburg, an additional property tax of 3.7 mils for five years is up for a vote to provide police protection.

As for Bucks Township, a property tax renewal of 0.1 mils is on the ballot with a 0.5 mil increase for five years for fire protection.

For voters in Warwick Township, a replacement measure for 1 mil for five years is for fire equipment for the coverage area.

For contested races, candidates for Dover and Uhrichsville mayor, Dover Council President, and Dover law director will be on applicable ballots. Ward 3 in Dover is also up for a vote between incumbent Kevin Korns and Sean Ring, while Ward 4 will have a new representative, with choices of Nate Johnson and Marcus Schwarm.
